Radio Pros Must Thrive in The Podcasting Industry

Last week I did an article on whether your podcast could become the news and opinion leader in your city. On Part 2,  let's understand that podcasting is a long range game, an activity where you start with maybe 10 listeners, then 25 the next episode. You're steadily building your organic audience of people who appreciate your content. Keep going with it. Don't stop. Because you're not a big celebrity, sometimes people give up on podcasting thinking it's taking too long to get noticed. But it only takes one or two people with the right ears to hear what you're doing, perhaps catching the attention of the CEO of a big media company that wants to hire you to produce content for them. But guess what. If you grow weary of producing content, you will never be discovered. When you stop, you have to start up all over again from scratch.  Stick with it and don't worry about how many people listened last month. Create something unique that isn't being done in your local market.  Local podcasting offers opportunities to cover niche topics overlooked by mainstream media. The local arm of podcasting in each city across America is still unchartered waters.  Creating a niche that nobody is covering is wide open to you. If you can do it consistently every day or every week you will dominate your space. By becoming a go-to source for audio content, you can fill gaps in coverage and provide a unique perspective in your city. It's essential to invest time in learning skills to enhance your content creation abilities. To my radio Vets, the world is open for business. With your skills you can't be beat in this space. Think creatively and fill voids in the market. The internet is the great equalizer!
